Online License To Carry

If you are a gun owner or considering becoming one, it’s important to know about the Tx License to Carry (LTC). An LTC, also known as a concealed carry license, allows individuals to carry a handgun open and concealed in public places. However, obtaining an LTC isn’t as simple as just filling out a form. There are several requirements and processes to follow. Here’s what you need to know about getting an LTC.

License Eligibility:

To be eligible for an LTC, you must be at least 18 years old and a legal Texas resident. You cannot have any felony convictions or certain misdemeanor convictions, such as domestic violence or drug offenses. You also cannot have any history of mental illness or substance abuse. If you meet these requirements, you can apply for an LTC by completing the necessary forms and undergoing a background check.

Training Requirements:

In addition to meeting eligibility requirements, you must also complete a training course before applying for an LTC. This course must be approved by the state and cover topics such as gun safety, storage, and laws related to carrying a concealed handgun.

You can take the license to carry class online!

Traditionally, this class has been taught in a classroom by an instructor. In-person classes are still acceptable, but there is an option to take the class portion via an online License to Carry class. The online class is taken at your own pace and is an easy, and convenient option.

The amount of training required takes at least 4-6 hours. Texas also require a shooting proficiency test that you must pass. This shooting test must be taken with a Tx DPS certified LTC instructor.

Renewing Your LTC:

Once you have an LTC, maintaining it is easy. Texas LTC is renewed online, once every 5 years, and a no class is needed to renew. You simply renew your license every 5 years on the DPS website. No class or shooting required.

Conclusion:

Obtaining a License to Carry is a big responsibility, but it can also provide peace of mind for gun owners who want to protect themselves and their families. If you are considering getting an LTC, make sure to carefully review the eligibility requirements and training requirements for your state. And if you already have an LTC, remember to keep it up to date to avoid any legal issues.
