Why is it Important?
If you own guns or are considering getting one: simply having a firearm is not enough. Learning how to hit a paper target, from a stationary position is a start, but is only one aspect of tactical training for civilians. It’s about developing the ability to think, act, and move under pressure because your life could depend on how you react when it matters most.
At Guardians’ Arms, we train regular people how to handle firearms safely and effectively in the real world, including first responders, teachers, business owners, and new gun owners. This is why your next course of action should be tactical training.
Being Armed Doesn’t Equal Being Prepared
Owning a firearm and being able to use it defensively are two very different things. You don’t rise to the occasion—you fall back on your training. For this reason, we promote responsible gun ownership and ongoing training.
The importance of tactical training
- helps you make decisions under pressure, instead of just reacting.
- promotes safe gun handling practices
- enhances situational awareness
- teaches not only range drills but also how to react to threats in the real world.
What Do We Mean When We Say “Tactical Training”?
Tactical training is about applying your skills in realistic situations. Tactics are important whether you’re dealing with a carjacking, a break-in, or a threat at work. “Geting off the X” is one of the main lessons we teach.
What is “the X”?
“The X” is where the danger is happening. It’s the kill zone, the ambush location. The worst thing you can do during a defensive encounter is to remain motionless. We teach you to seek cover, assess your situation, and create distance. It’s not just about shooting; it’s about survival.
Which Course Is Right for You?
We provide classes for all skill levels and requirements:
- Basic Handgun Course: Develop your confidence, marksmanship, and safety skills with a pistol
- Basic Rifle Class: Covers the fundamentals of marksmanship, optics, and rifle handling
- Concealed Weapons Carrying (CCW): We’re going to be up front with you. The LTC shooting qualification that is required in Texas to get your license is just that, a qualification. In that class we discuss holsters, drawing your firearm, laws relating to carrying, etc. But you shoot at one target, in a controlled manner, with adequate time. Which is fine, but that shooting course does not teach practical skills in regards to drawing from your holster, seeking cover, or shooting at a higher pace. This class does those things, and more. It is much more in depth on practical application and mindset.
- Learn the laws and safety procedures for carrying a concealed weapon in Texas with the LTC certification.
- Custom Training Programs: We tailor sessions to fit your goals and lifestyle life. You tell us what you need, and we work to meet those requirements.
Train Like it Matters
Going to the range once time isn’t enough to ensure your safety and the safety of those you care about. Before, during, and after a defensive confrontation, training equips you with the knowledge and abilities to defend oneself.
Ready to step up? Let’s prepare for real-world scenarios and go beyond the basics. Guardians’ Arms can help you find a class that fits your needs and your schedule.
